Hate it when that happens

September 15th, 2005

Three post day!!! Woohoo!!

Okay, I’ve been duped. Taken in by the believability of it all. A quick google finds that the Robertson comments on Hurricane Katrina were FALSE. Whew, good thing I ain’t a reporter. :)

It is unfortunate though that the story was so believeable as far as so many people felt he really could have said those things. All right, I admit it, I’m a goob. Next.

Unbelievable

September 15th, 2005

Sweet double post day. The way it’s going I may get 3 in today :)

So once again from the BRHF I have been informed of Pat Robertson’s latest antics. And I’m just speechless. Okay obviously I’m not speechless or I wouldn’t be posting anything. But wow, I can’t believe it. He’s actually blaming 2 of the worst disasters in the U.S. on little ‘ol Ellen Degeneres. The fact she likes the ladies more than the men? Hmm, I highly doubt it. Now I try to be a good practicing Christian, and do pretty well most of the time but do fall short here and there (God knows how I like my beer :) ). But there is no way in hell I can even pretend to understand how he thinks this. I mean how many people in the U.S. are homosexual? I don’t know the exact number but I’m guessing quite a few. Are we really supposed to believe God has singled out this one person? Now I don’t agree with the church on quite a few things, and the fact that God would impose his wrath on thousands of people (hetero and homosexual alike) because of the lifestyle of one person? For the record I have no problem with homosexuality. So that’s why this perplexes me even more. I guess if I was more homophobic this would make sense and I’d jump on the bandwagon. But really, it’s just sad that he would blame this on the fact that Ellen is hosting a stupid television awards show. I’d have to say, if I was sitting in my church and my pastor came up with this hair brained idea, I’d probably pack up my stuff, get up, walk out and never come back. As a Christian aren’t you taught to be compassionate and accepting and loving of your fellow man? Apparently in Pat’s eyes, only if your not batting for the same team.

Open letters on the internet

September 15th, 2005

So over at the Big Red Head Forum someone posted a funny link to a guy who wrote an open letter and posted it on his blog to a crackhead. Now it’s a pretty funny read, I own a motorcycle and never knew sparkplugs could be used like that. But writing an open letter to a crackhead and only posting it on the internet seems kinda… useless. The only real thing it does is allow the writer to let off some steam. Now I’m all about rants, I’ve written a couple on this site myself. But I don’t think I’ve ever written an open letter, expecting the person or entity I’m targeting to read it. Hell I’m surprised I get as many “real” (not search bots) hits as I do. Maybe thats just the form he decided to put his rant in to make it funnier to the reader. Either way, if he really was serious about letting the crackhead know how he feels, the internet probably isn’t the best place to put it.
Oh, also, I’m guessing if your planning on poisoning a crackhead you probably shouldn’t post that on the internet either. Just a word to the wise. But what do I know, I’m Canadian right?

Summer is a wrap

September 14th, 2005

Wow, that was quick. Just looked at my last post and realized summer is over. That went really fast. Let’s see, what did I do? Oh yeah, NOTHING. The biggest thing was that we went to Santa Barbara for a friend’s wedding. While that was fun, we were only there for a few days. Not much of a vacation. We DID get to see the U.S.S. Ronald Regan. Interesting for me since I’ve never been that close to an aircraft carrier before. We got to take a tour and they had little speed boats that guarded the ship with 2 .50 cal guns and gernade launcher on each. We toured on a fishing boat, not the guard ships. We had one come right up close as our guide got within the 500 yard barrier so they gently let us know we needed to back off. Heh, was funny cause you know they aren’t going to straight out open fire on a tourist boat. Took some pics, hope to put them up in a while. Maybe later today. Other than that working like a crazy person.
Oh, I did see most of the big summer movies. I missed War of the Worlds, would have liked to see that on the big screen but oh well. I saw 40 Year Old Virgin a few weeks ago. Funniest damn movie I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t stop laughing. Just go see it. That’s all I got for now. I may post later as I think of stuff.

This, that and moderation

May 18th, 2005

So like a lot of you and like most of the geeks like me I’ve got my tickets to Star Wars Episode III. I’m set for Friday night at 10:20pm, but I’m hoping to change the tickets to the 7:30pm showing that night. My wife was going to go but found out her company has bought a showing next week for the entire company and she’s not as big a geek as me. So she’s not interested in seeing it twice. Looks like my brother-in-law is going to go with me. Should be a blast. I’ve read some great reviews.
In other news, the comment spamming keeps coming. It seems as though these guys are still entering in the spams manually but I’m thinking they’ve found a way around the current setup. Either way I’ve decided to turn moderating back on with select keywords. So if you are reading this and you do post a comment that doesn’t show immediately don’t panic. It’s sitting in the moderation box and I’ll see it in a day or two. Provided it meets my requirements I’ll approve it. Otherwise it’s out the door. Hopefully that’ll cut down on the spam.
