They’re almost here!

February 12th, 2008

Hmm, October eh?  That’s a while back.  Well the update… the little ones are almost here.  Yes you read that right ONES not one.  Twins.  We found out in our 5th month.  For those of you, like I was at the time, who are pregnancy ignorant, that is quite a ways to be along before finding out.  Yes we had ultrasounds and exams before that, but they didn’t catch it until then.  So after the initial shock wore off, who am I kidding I still don’t thing it’s totally worn off, and both our parents telling us twins run in our families, we are getting things ready.  We are actually about a week away.  Original due date was March 20th, with twins you are normally about 4 weeks early, which brings us to now.  The nursery is all but done, the basement alas is not.  Progress has been made but way too slowly.  Mostly my fault, but life does seem to eat up the time.  Anyway, hope to have a bedroom and family room done shortly.

My wife has done an amazing job at getting educated about not just being pregnant and giving birth, but the whole twins thing.  She’s bought about every book on the planet I think.  I do need to get reading a few of them myself.  Maybe on some of those sleepless nights that are right around the corner.  And the stuff!!!  Man the stuff you need is unreal.  It’s not just some bottles, some blankets, clothes and a stroller.  You need sleepers, and onesies, and receiving blankets, and swaddling blankets, pacifiers, indoor stroller, outdoor stroller, car seats, basinets, changing pads, the list just keeps going.  And don’t forget, twins, so TWO of most of that stuff.  We did find a good dual stroller that we can use with the travel car seat carriers.  So that helps quite a bit.  But still.  Yikes.  And I did just purchase this:   DadGear Diaper Vest.  It looks pretty cool.  I’m hoping it is.  I’ll write up a review when I get it.  Simply because I’ve only found ONE other review on it.  Would be nice to hear from some people on whether or not they liked it.

What else?  Oh yeah, we finally traded in the old POS Passat, it was WAY on it’s last legs, for a 2004 Dodge Durango.  It’s a nice ride, and in keeping with the debt free way, it’s paid for.  Which in this instance is a good thing.  With twins on the way we don’t need payments.  But we also couldn’t have twins ride in the Passat.  There just isn’t enough room.  I’ll post pics of the twins next week or so when they are actually out of the womb, for those that care.  For the rest, I’ll see if I can’t rustle up some humor, although with all the sites out there it’ll be tough to find something that isn’t already out somewhere.

In the meantime, for those who have an annoying co-workers you can’t get rid of try this.  WARNING: not safe for work.

About Me

As you see from my intro I am a Canadian (please no flaming). I was born in Calgary, Alberta, a great place to live. Why then do you ask am I currently living in the U.S.? Because I just happened to get a job here after college so I stayed. I went to high school in Winnipeg, Manitoba at Fort Richmond Collegiate. Yes they are even on the web, so if you’re really bored go check it out.

I graduated from Gonzaga University in 1992, a couple of weeks later I got a great job so I decided to stay in the U.S. It’s actually a pretty nice place to hang out. I, of course, love to watch and play hockey (see My Favorites for numerous links). And like to surf the net. I just recently got married to a wonderful woman, and we are very happy. I decided to do a web page because my brother-in-law had one and kept telling me how cool his is so naturally I had to try and out do him. His is pretty entertaining so I recommend checking it out.
Well enjoy the stay and come back soon as I will be trying to update this regularly.

About My Site

This is just a little something to let you know about my web site. This started out as a try at creating a website, but now with my own domain, I’m trying to make something of it. Obviously I am going for a Canadian theme, but I am also trying to put up a lot of general intrest and humor stuff. As you have probably noticed, it’s a whole lot of nothing, mostly me trying to be amusing.
I will constantly be modifying this site as I find new stuff to play with. I will try to keep it to a minimum though so it doesn’t take forever to load (I hate that).
Well enough rambling, enjoy the site and let me know if something doesn’t work or if you find a cool site you think I should put up here.

Just a blob.

Photos

So I started a “Photos” page. Since no one really visits I’m putting up personal pics for family and friends to view. If you’re looking for the funny stuff, hit the Humor section.

This first set is of my first trip to visit the folks in Las Vegas. I took the kid along on her first real outting, and her first trip on an airplane.

Okay, here is another set of pictures. These ones are of Cheyanne playing with the neighbor kids,
Amanda and Shawn, and of course my new toy :)
Kids playing and the motorcycle

And finally I had someone take a couple of shots of me posing on the new toy. Here’s me looking all bad in my biker gear (or not).

This section (created by my brother-in-law) is devoted to my wedding pictures:

And another section for my recent trip to Egypt (Winter of ‘03):

Here is a large group for my company picnic.

Other People’s Pages (OPP)

January 1st, 2002

What did ya think it was gonna be? These are links to Other People’s Pages that I thought were cool but don’t really fit into the other categories. If you find a bizarre or wild site you think I should link to, email me and I’ll take a look. We’ll see what we can do.

  • whitewomanblackdog – Here’s my bother-in-law’s home page. It’s kinda wierd, kinda strange, kinda different, but pretty cool.
  • SpencerKimmel.com – looking for some art, here is a [previously] local “starving artist” (yeah, right). Has some good stuff so take a look.
  • The Pig Pen- Check out the NEW Pigpen, home of the one and only infamous PIGMAN. He finally got his own domain name so now there are no rules. And yes he named me but he’s not my father. TRUST me.
  • Linux Punks – the blog of a buddy at work who is knowledgable on most things computer related.
  • breaman.net – a friend of mine has a new domain name. Mostly computer programming related.
  • Buff Wear – no it’s not a porn site, it’s those funny things they wear on their heads in Survivor. They have a huge selection of colors and styles. I have a few myself, great for outdoor sports or yard work. The guy who owns the place is way cool too.

Welcome

January 1st, 2002

Welcome to eddiecanuck.com!!!
The Eddie stands for Eddie Munster (which has since migrated to Eddie Canuck), it’s a handle I’ve picked up at work from some PIG and it’s just stuck. No I am not the real Eddie Munster nor do I claim to be. I’m just a simple Canadian living amongst the Americans in harmony (surprise) or at least as close to harmony as possible.

If you want to check out the REAL Eddie Munster (Butch Patrick) click the sign.

This place has changed over the years, from the whole “free” website hosting, to my own domain, to the weblog format. Gotta keep up with the times, and this seemed to be the most logical format for what I put up here. Anyway, I’m looking for new ideas to make this a fun place to visit and hopefully drum up some business. Don’t worry, I’m not looking to put ads on here and make money. I just want to see that counter go up from more than just me editing the damn page. So if you have any ideas let me know, I’m going to be busy trying to figure out how to get my site out there for people to know about. It seems to be somewhat working as my stats page is showing significant traffic.

Mostly I have stuff that amuses me or is related to the homeland. All posts are on the main page, and archived articles and links are on the left side of the main page. The articles are listed in descending order (that’s newest at the top, and oldest at the bottom), that’s just the way I like it so deal with it.

The only rule I have is DON’T LINK DIRECTLY TO PICTURES ON MY SITE!! If you like a picture, do the old right click and save as and put it on your own server. I’ll note if a graphic is something I have created and don’t want pilfered. I have no problem with you putting a text link to a picture, but don’t put it in a forum or anywhere else as an image link. Otherwise my bandwidth gets used everytime someone views that page, whether they wanted to see the picture or not. Okay, rant over.

If there is something you want to see, let me know, otherwise hope you like it.
