World Cup Champs!!

September 15th, 2004

They did it!!! Team Canada held on to prevail over Team Finland in a 3-2 victory of the World Cup of Hockey (formerly the Canada Cup). It was a good game, and not just because my team won, it was hard hitting and Finland kept it close all the way.
And as mentioned in yesterday’s post the NHL will lockout the players at midnight tonight. Not that you need me to tell you that, unless of course you don’t follow sports at all, in which case you could care less about this post. Looks like it will be a long one too. My guess is it will scrap the entire 2004-2005 season. The good news for me is we have a semi-pro team here. The Spokane Chiefs kick off their season on 9/25.
ESPN had what I thought was a good article on how this will affect Canada. I just hope they are able to resolve it as soon as possible.

World Cup Hockey

September 14th, 2004

Well the hockey labor strike is looming closely. The Collective Barganing Agreement (CBA) is set to expire tomorrow and the NHLPA will have a lockout. Meaning there will be a shortened season, if there is one at all. So Canadian hockey hopes have moved to the current World Cup of Hockey. The final game is tonight and it’s Team Canada vs. Team Finland. So I’m set, I’ve got the DVR (Dish Network’s equivelant of TIVO) set to record the game starting at 4pm PST. The semi-final game between Canada and the Czech Republic was an overtime nail biter. Hoping this one is just as good. With the Calgary Flames’ goalie Miikka Kipprusoff in net it should be tough scoring for Canada. After this though, I’m gonna be hurting for some pro hockey. It’ll be interesting to see how ESPN fills the time usually reserved for the games.

More Changes Abound

September 13th, 2004

Yes, I’m changing things AGAIN. Moving from Movable Type to Wordpress. It’s a lot like Movable Type, it gives a blog like website. But it should, for now at least, cut down on the amount of spam comments I get. I’m tired of having to go through and delete spam comments. It gets annoying. So right now all my cool little files and pictures that you have come to see, I know you don’t care about me you just want the goodies, are not accessable. Should have it all up and running in a bit so check back later.

New Christmas Gift for the Kids

September 9th, 2004

Trying to think what to get the kids for Christmas this year? Why not get a SuperBowl halftime inspired doll set, with functioning wardrobe malfunction? Found this today. They’ll be this year’s “Tickle Me Elmo” doll. Get ‘em while they last.
