New Neighbor

June 18th, 2004

I think our neighbors are starting to feel comfortable around us. Although not quite the neighbor you might think. We were heading out for a trip to the store or something and my 7 year old neice was heading out to the car and we were rushing her along (as usual) and she says “I just saw a lizard”. We said, “yeah right, you didn’t see a lizard”, so I get her in the back seat and turn around to go to my side and low and behold I see this just sitting there. I’ll be damned, she DID see a “lizard”. It actually turns out it’s a blue tailed skink. My wife looked it up the next day. Funky little critter, he scooted under the front of the front tire of my truck. I was able to back out without squishing the little bugger and he was gone when we returned. Kinda cool though. Too bad our actual neighbors aren’t as friendly. Guess he doesn’t mind the color of our house.

Tonight’s the night

June 7th, 2004

Well I made it up to Calgary for game 6 on Saturday night and was of course dissapointed in the outcome. It was a fun trip, but would have been great to be there for the win. Just means they’ll win it tonight in Tampa. Calgary was crazy, they actually had army troops in town in case they won and things got out of hand. But the fans have actually been pretty good so far. For the win last Thursday, they had 60,000 people on the Red Mile, and only had 17 arrests. Hopefully there won’t be any big problems WHEN they win tonight. I’m back home tonight, so now I need to figure out where to go to watch the game. Slightly different atmosphere here, but I couldn’t get the extra time off work to stay up there for the game. Well good luck to the boys tonight, I’ll be rooting for you.
