The new place is done

May 31st, 2004

Well, it looks like the whole new home thing is almost over. We were able to squeeze the keys out of the tight fisted developer this weekend so we could move stuff into the garage. After a lengthy battle over the re-paint cost, we finally have it resolved, and I AIN’T PAYIN’ FOR IT!! Okay, got that out of my system. So we picked our new colors, the Hunter Green and Tavern Taupe trim. They finished painting this weekend and it looks GREAT. My wife and I are loving it.
Check out this and this. We are supposed to sign the closing papers and move in tomorrow. Color me happy!! Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Road Trip

May 21st, 2004

Well with my post yesterday comes the following link. Apparently Stanely Cup Fever is running rampant in Calgary causing a Mardi Gras like atmosphere. The images have been captured on FlamesGirls.com NOTE: NOT WORK FRIENDLY!!! Okay, you were warned. Hmm, good hockey, good beer and lovely young ladies lifting their shirts… should be a good trip. Although I am a married man so no touching, just looking. Still a good time in my book. Who needs New Orleans, just need Calgary hockey after a 15 year drought.

THEY DID IT!!!

May 20th, 2004

Woohoo!!!! The Calgary Flames did what nobody thought they’d do, they made it to the Stanely Cup finals for the first time in 15 years. The are also the first Canadian team to see the final round since ‘94. I’ve already made plans to go up for game 4 on Monday 5/31 in Calgary. I won’t actually be at the game, unless a miracle occurs or someone is REALLY generous. But the atmosphere apparently is crazy right now. Should be a good time. Here’s to hoping the Flames bring the Cup back home!!

So much for a “free” country

Alright, here’s my latest rant/bitch/whatever.
I’m in the process of buying a new home (well me and my wife), and it is a new construction in a new developement area. In our offer letter we asked to pick the colors. They accepted, and gave us a color deck. I asked if any colors were off limits, my agent said no, but some colors costed more cause they require 2 coats. No problem. We picked our colors, a Harbor Blue for the body, and Stonewall (gray). The blue is pretty bright but would be offset nicely by the gray. Well we submitted our colors, and the contractor bought them and started painting. Now admittidly, it is a bit bright, but it’s not outrageous in my opinion. Here is an example.

GO FLAMES GO!!!

May 4th, 2004

Well the Calgary Flames did it!! They ousted the dreaded Red Wings in a spectacular overtime victory. It was hard fought on both ends but the Flames just out worked them and capitalized on the opportunity and scored the goal in overtime. A buddy of mine posted a comment to my last entry, apparently the city is going crazy. Well it’s been 15 years since they’ve made it past the first round in the playoffs, and they went 7 years without even making the playoffs. So we are enjoying it while we can. I’m just happy to finally be able to see them play on TV. Where I’m at, unless you pay for the season package on satellite, you are very limited in what games you get to see. Well I hope they go all the way!
