Things are going along pretty steadily for now. I am trying to get my laptop setup to be a TiVo of sorts. I’ve got a video capture device that, if I can get it working, will allow me to record TV shows on my laptop. I was going to use Windows Media Center Edition, but can’t get it to play DVDs on my laptop. So I’m going with a host of other programs that will eventually give me the same functionality. In addition I bought a cool remote control that I can use to run the MyHTPC application with. This is all thanks to Jess who gave me the info on all this stuff. Hopefully it all works out as my VCR has taken to eating tapes. This hinders the recording and playing back of my favorite shows. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Okay, so the great guys that host my site have setup this WAY cool stats package that shows me all sorts of stuff. So when you visit me I can see who hosts you, what OS you use, where you came from, etc. But another interesting thing, is it shows me who has linked to ANYTHING off my site. I’ve noticed that a couple you your really like the Dancing Spidey pic. Now while I did not create it and take no claim for creating it (it was emailed to me from a co-worker), it seems in bad taste to link directly to the pic from my site and then NOT give me credit for hosting it. I would appreciate it, if you would like someone to see the picture or anything else off this site, to send them directly here and not link to pictures and such. Basically I don’t care if you use the picture, just don’t expect me to host it for you. Find your own server… please.

Now think about what you are doing. You are linking to a picture you assume will stay where it is, and stay the same thing as you originally thought it would be… are you catching my drift? No? Okay, let me spell it out for you. Those offending people (and you know who you are) only have a couple days to correct the situation. Otherwise you may find the picture you think you are linking to isn’t what you thought it was. Am I mean? Maybe, but it kinda chaps my hide that people expect me to host pictures for them to post on other people’s site without even giving a site mention. The least they could do is say “hey I found this picture on www.eddiecanuck.com”.

Once again, been a while since I posted so here’s the skinny. Survived not only my cold (took over a week to shake), but the recent “reduction in workforce” we had at the office. I’ve been here for almost 11 years now, and have lasted through over half a dozen layoffs and they still suck. One of those unfortunate things that sometimes need to be done for the business to survive. We lost some good people and I wish them all the best.
In a totally unrelated note, this weekend is not only Valentine’s Day but it’s the International Auto Show, AND the Inland Northwest Motorcycle Show & Sale. The wife and I love to go to the Auto Show so we can drool over all the new cars we’d love to have but can’t afford. And I got free passes to the Motorcycle Show. So hopefully we can hit both this weekend.
I’m going to take the digital camera to both, so there may be pictures to follow.
Not to mention I still need to figure out something for us to do on Valentine’s Day besides going to a fancy dinner. Any suggestions?? (keep it clean).
